LIVERPOOL EMERGE AS LIKELY UMTITI DESTINATION

It is no longer news that Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman no longer needs the services of French defender Samuel Umtiti at the club. The France international defender’s time at the Camp Nou seems to have come to an end and he’s being linked with a move away from the club, with several clubs interested in signing him in the summer.

He has been linked with a move to several clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Juventus. He has not been able to play in games for Barcelona this season as a result of either injuries or a lack of form and he is no longer trusted to be a part of the Barcelona defense by Koeman.

According to the Daily Express, he is now a major transfer target of Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp is interested in continuing to add more strength to his current squad. Barca are said to be very interested in letting the defender leave the club as they no longer see him as a key member of the squad for the next years.

Umtiti is currently 27 and needs to act fast in terms of getting a new club for himself as he would like to be a part of the France national team squad ahead of the UEFA Euros and the FIFA World Cup that will hold next year in Qatar.

He has been restricted to just 13 appearances for Barcelona this season by Ronald Koeman, with the manager making it very obvious that he will not be needed to play a key role in the squad anymore. In the defensive pecking order at Barca, he remains behind Gerard Pique, Oscar Mingueza, and Clement Lenglet.

The Spanish club are willing to sell the defender to raise funds for their summer transfer targets and a move to Liverpool could be on the cards for the World Cup-winning defensive star.
