Premier League side Liverpool have abandoned the deal for top summer interested Naby Keita as the conundrum seems like one that would not go away.
After the relief of making the Champions League at the end of the last season, this summer was supposed to be one where top players would join and strengthen the club. However, Jurgen Klopp and the Reds
team have not been as impressive.
After two failed bids, Klopp has reportedly opted to abandon the Keita deal. The second offer of £66 million did not pull through so the German tactician has decided against the deal for the Guinea international. The chase has taken its toll on the management, slowing down the impending spark ahead of the new season as the much needed depth is not achieved yet. The management at Liverpool FC are not happy that the move for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk fell through.
The Dutchman had reportedly agreed to a move to Anfield this summer as he preferred the Reds
The Saints all of a sudden reported Liverpool to the Premier League for “tapping up.” This is when clubs approach players and their agent before they agree a deal with the player’s employers. The ideal is to make the discussions private until a deal is struck. The blame has been shifted to the sporting director of Liverpool Michael Edwards for allowing the deal to be publicized before completion – the thing that possibly pissed St Mary off.
Edwards is reportedly not in any problem over the deal but the club is not happy that they lost a decent chance to land the defender. Van Dijk obviously preferred playing under Klopp to moving to Chelsea or Manchester City, or other high profile sides that were interested. Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp says Manchester United resulted to long ball football during Sunday’s draw when both sides met in the Premier League.
A late header from United striker, Zlatan Ibrahimović annulled the only goal that Liverpool held on to during the face-off between both clubs on Sunday. James Milner put in a penalty kick at the first half of the match which kept Liverpool on the lead.
Klopp believes that his team played a better football than his counterpart. He said that he had executed a better plan in the game, but United maintained long balls in a wide game.
“In the end of period of the game when united started playing long balls – to Marouane Fellani and Zlatan Ibrahimović – after 80 minutes high intense football is hard,” the German said.
Mourinho thinks differently. He said his team attacked, while Liverpool simply played a defensive game.
With his side now third, Klopp suggested that the draw was in favour to his team in the race for the title. Liverpool are currently seven points behind Chelsea – log leaders. Continue reading KLOPP FAULTS DRAW TO UNITED’S “LONG BALLS”
David Moyes is set to lead the Sunderland team to Anfield on Saturday, November 26, 2016.
The trip has been made more difficult for the visitors with the news that Paddy McNair would not be available. McNair stands a chance of missing the rest of the Premier League games this season, reports say. The Northern Ireland international picked up the cruciate ligament injury during the 3-0 triumph over Hull City last week. The 21-year old used to be a Manchester United player before his switch.
Aside McNair, Sunderland would miss defender Papy Djilobodji as he would sit the game out after his dismissal in the same game over the weekend. The absence of the Senegal international means John O’Shea would likely get the nod for the important clash against the Reds. Continue reading SUNDERLAND FACE INJURY CRISIS AHEAD OF LIVERPOOL TIE
Adam Lallana has welcomed Liverpool’s decision not to hand the axe to Brendan Rodgers.
After Liverpool’s dismal performance the previous season, it seemed as if Rodgers’ time was up at Anfield and he might be asked to leave, but, that did not turn out to be the case as the Reds’ owners kept their trust on the manager intact and let him be at his post.
According to Lallana, Rodgers’ position should actually never have been in doubt as he has been doing his job really well for the last couple of years.
In his interview to an English sports channel, the playmaker said, “its good news that he’s staying. He is one of the most fantastic managers I have worked with so far. You want somebody like him to be in charge for the quick development of the players. He is so knowledgeable in terms of technique.”
Rodgers might have stayed for a bit more time, but, Liverpool has indeed lost a gem in the form of Steven Gerrard who is going to be on his way to America very soon to feature for Los Angeles Galaxy. Continue reading Adam Lallana has welcomed Liverpool’s decision
