Klopp, Liverpool Manager Hits Back at Guardiola

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool couldn’t believe the claim made by Pep Guardiola that the player of his players dives and has also hit back at the manager of Man City with a jibe regarding tactical fouling. On Saturday Guardiola has suggested that the string of current late wins of Liverpool that has given them a lead by 6 points at the Premier League table is partly because of the conning of the referee.


The comment of the City manager was taken to be about Sadio Mane who managed to win important late penalties against Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City, last month. As a matter of fact, Mane had also been booked for simulation in the first half of the 2-1 win for Liverpool during the weekend at Aston Villa. Thereon he went on to score the match-winning header.

Initially, Klopp had been reluctant to discuss about the remarks of Guardiola and stated that he didn’t wish to pour oil on burning flame before the Premier League visit of Manchester City to Anfield. However, he made a playful reference to the allegation of tactical fouling that has been leveled at City. Pep Guardiola has always denied instructing his players about fouling opponents.

Klopp said that he couldn’t really believe it and then he saw it when he had been asked about the comments made by Guardiola. He says that he is not sure if Guardiola has actually spoken about it in that manner about the team or Sadio, both aren’t too nice. He said he would like to put oil on the fire because he is not interested in those kinds of things. Klopp promises not to talk about the tactical foul.

The remarks of Guardiola have been made in an interview shortly after a win against a Southampton match. Klopp had been surprised the City counterpart had commented about another team just after the game.
